I was in Syria just before the war. I met these wonderful school kids in Palmyra. I have thought of them often over the years. As things seem to be shifting in Syria, I wonder where they are and what their futures hold.

Their families and friends have lived longer without them than with them. And yet their absence can still be felt. We, as a nation, will never truly know what we lost on this day 35 years ago. #December6 #EcolePolytechnique
