Today and tomorrow the Water & Natural Resources Committee is meeting to finish our interim work and prepare for the upcoming legislative session.

Topics include climate change, solar energy, the Strategic Water Reserve, PFAS, local agriculture, and proposed legislation.

50-year mortgages would make potential homebuyers de facto renters *and* make them responsible for maintenance and repairs. It's a lose-lose proposition.

The solution to our housing shortage is to build more houses affordably and efficiently.

The State Land Office can help.

No more excuses: Republicans either call for Trump’s resignation or they are complicit.

Of course Trump knew.

The Legislature's Water & Natural Resources Committee is meeting in Artesia.

Topics include oil and gas royalty rates, groundwater, air quality, abandoned wells, and "produced water".

I sponsored the royalty rate bill (SB 23 2025), and I will bring this experience with me to the State Land Office.

I enjoyed Indigenous Peoples' Day in Albuquerque's beautiful Tiguex Park.

In the Legislature, I supported the recognition of Indigenous Peoples' Day as a state holiday.

As State Land Commissioner, I will continue to respect tribal sovereignty.

Today is the final day this interim of the Legislature's Land Grant Committee.

The Committee endorsed my bill to fine tune the Land Grant Assistance Fund, which was created by legislation I sponsored (HB 8, 2022) to create a permanent funding source for Land Grant communities.

As I run for State Land Commissioner, I also continue to serve in the New Mexico Legislature.

Today is the first day of a special legislative session convened to address federal budget cuts, healthcare, food assistance, and vaccine standards, and to study interstate medical licensing compacts.

This weekend we celebrated three Democratic Rising Stars, including two (!) of my colleagues who serve on the House Energy, Environment & Natural Resources Committee: Rep. Michelle Paulene Abeyta and Rep. Yanira Gurrola. I'm proud to work with both of them.

Senator Leo Jaramillo is a good guy too!

I attended a raucous Santa Fe mayoral forum to support kids' sports, parks, and families.

Outdoor recreation, whether it’s team sports or hiking, hunting, or fishing, is one of the best parts of life.

As Land Commissioner, I will support outdoor recreation on state trust lands and beyond.

Today I’m attending the New Mexico Women Lead / Building an Advanced Energy Ecosystem conference.

Panels on critical minerals, data center energy, industrial water use, and geothermal energy.

New Mexico is an energy-producing state, and the State Land Office plays a key role in that production.

Day 2 of the Water & Natural Resources Committee up in Taos.

Today is focused on water, including acequias, water planning, the Strategic Water Reserve (not to be confused with the Strategic Water Supply), and an update on the Texas v. New Mexico litigation concerning water on the Rio Grande.

Today I'm attending the Water & Natural Resources Committee hearing in Taos.

We're hearing presentations about pollinator protection, wildfire mitigation, the Land Conservation Incentives Act, Department of Game & Fish reform, and the Rio Grande Trail.

Just a great lineup of topics.
