While prints, textiles, and carvings were once the North’s most celebrated exports, in recent decades, original drawings and paintings have emerged as dynamic practices in their own right, with younger artists expanding and transforming the graphic legacies of the past.

For more than half a century, the Canadian Arctic has been a wellspring of artistic innovation, with generations of Inuit artists making indelible contributions to the story of Canadian art.

Laur P’s work imagines new worlds inspired by nature, deep time, and memory, exploring how forms and materials grow, change, and interact. Through a slow, layered process, Laur P shows how life, decay, and transformation shape both the natural world and our understanding of it.

𝘍𝘦𝘢𝘴𝘵 𝘙𝘰𝘣𝘦 is made of hand-crafted clay beads assembled to resemble a traditional feasting robe. The expressive colour palette suggests an abundant feast.
