It was cool to add funds to the wallet and be able to purchase the FINAL FANTASY XIII-2 DLC I was missing on the PS3 this weekend. I applaud Sony keeping the old shops up, even if consumers had to bully them into doing it. At least they haven't tried to mess with it since.

Today's Xbox news was expected. After the big Activision deal, they’re pushing for profits. With stagnant consoles and these new pricey handhelds, Xbox seems to be shifting from budget-brand to more PC-centric. It does seem they're sidelining console users to grow their PC base now.

The Deus Ex remaster is straight up insulting.

The HD generation of gaming introduced all of the evils that we know in modern gaming today: day 1 updates, DLC, and subscription culture. It all seemed to start out so innocently with that horse armor and now every game has “microtransactions” and strives to be a live service game

There is a certain magic to the Xbox 360 and PS3 era of gaming. That was the last time I felt like consoles truly eclipsed what we had available on the traditional PC and market at that time. Now in retrospect, every game seems like a technical marvel when you consider how limited the systems are.

The best thing I saw at LI Retro was definitely Journey on PS3 hooked up to a widescreen HD CRT. Don’t know why, but it just made so much sense to me. It looked so good!

Broke out the 486 and got lost in Ultima VI for a little while. I forgot how charming that game is, and it runs perfectly on that machine. I love that the music comes out of the sound card and the PC speaker babbles out the sound effects. What a good game

It will pain me forever that I'll never be able to purchase the expansion for Fantasy Life for my 3DS

Had to break out the color dropper on this because I swore it was "more purple" on the YouTube playhead. This change drives me crazy lol

I have such a waning desire to be able to play Final Fantasy XI on some type of mobile device. Maybe I should get a Steam Deck. I tried to install it on my jailbroken Switch via WINE one time, but that didn’t go well at all…

Playing around with old word processors for a project I might spin up in the future and I’ve become enamored with WordStar. It feels so good in the hand and I’ve already picked up on some shortcuts… I see why there are die-hard fans out there.

Continuing the year from Hell, my RAID array with all my personal data failed. One drive was offline due to bad sectors on the disk, then I had to move… upon power on at the new place, a second drive’s heads went bad causing the failure of two drives and the array. A huge loss I’m still processing

Picked up a PicoGUS and ZuluSCSI from VCF East because why not. The 486 will now have two sound cards and I can escape SCSI hell on my Power Mac 7300
