Sligo Co Co is to seek funds for the re-opening of the old Sligo jail as a tourism project.

A voluntary group, The Friends of Sligo Gaol, has been pushing for the project for years.

The group commissioned a feasibility study which identified how it can become a flagship tourism project.

Good to see that there is now a Search facility on the Journal app. Earlier this year many complained that they had to scroll back to find things. As a regular user of the app I find Search very useful.

The new Bristow helicopter that is replacing the current larger Irish Coastguard rescue chopper has gone into use in Shannon.
