More autumn color in Santa Fe

I'm lucky to have a big old cottonwood in my front yard. In dry years it lacks color. This year it's pretty spectacular.

The rains have stopped now, and aspen have dropped their leaves. Now it's time for the cottonwoods in the lower elevations, along creeks and rivers.

Northern New Mexico has been lucky this year, with a good monsoon and regular rains extending into October. And the fall colors have been beautiful.

In all the dark content of "Letters from an American," this distracted me: "Trump dismissed the No Kings protests[...] claiming the signs were “all made professionally in a printing shop[...] on Madison Avenue someplace.”"

Estimates for yesterday's "New Mexico Rally for Public Lands" varied from several hundred to "about 2,000." It was heartening to see so many people, of all ages, showing up on a workday afternoon. 1/

I do love public lands, especially in northern New Mexico. A rummage through my photos reminds me why. 1/

There was a big turnout for #NoKingsDay in Santa Fe, NM. Organizers offered two march routes to avoid clogging Old Santa Fe Trail and the plaza, but... you know...

I've lost count of the number of times Trump has made me think of Blazing Saddles.

Mel Brooks is a genius - and apparently also a prophet 😁

Fall colors in the Sangre de Cristos near Santa Fe are pretty vivid this year.
