The great Stephen Fabian is one of those artists from the 2E era of AD&D that just doesn’t get enough credit or attention. His interior illustrations in the Ravenloft line and Tome of Magic especially stand out. Pitch perfect aesthetic… and what an amazing talent. Pure 💯.

I'm building a relationship mapping tool for rpgs. I'm still doing basic prototyping, so it won't look much like this in the end. Today I got visibility working. The GM will always be able to see everything, but you can hide nodes from individual players.

I really like relationship maps for rpgs, like those found in Vampire 5e and similar games. I haven’t found a tool online that suits me perfectly though, so I’m building one myself.

Hopefully I can show off the basics in a week or two.

After my "Making TTRPGs on a shoestring budget" talk at Terminal City Tabletop Con, several people have reached out asking if they could get a copy of it.

So I've decided to publish my script and slides on my website!

I build free game tools online.

* interactive character sheets with dice rollers and admin view
* wargame campaign managers
* necromunda rules aides

But it’s time to build something new. Any ideas? What would make running your games easier at the table, or during prep?

Spotlight on the cartographer who worked on Tolkien's Middle Earth and D&D's Forgotten Realms

As that person constantly flipping back to the maps when traveling along in a story or game, thank you for your passion Karen

What is everyone’s favourite rpg from a graphic design point of view?

(Not art necessarily, although it contributes)

I welcomed the new year in a very *me* way by having my head buried in a boardgame rulebook to sort out an edge case. Whoops.

Happy New Year all!

After two decades of programming while relying on designers to make things look nice, I’m finally attempting to learn design. The result so far is the homepage of cityindarkness.com. Next step: roll out the design to the rest of the site
