While saying they want to "preserve nature" the Conservative Party have just pledged to scrap the Climate Change Act.

This makes no sense.

How do more floods, more droughts, and rising temperatures "preserve" nature?

That's what scrapping the Act will lead to.

Positive #Swift news from #Longridge #Lancashire. 10 out of 12 boxes now occupied in St Wilfrid's church tower plus 2 newly occupied boxes at a friend's house after a 'patient' 🤣 3 year wait. Lots of screamers over town. They are a joy. Summer would be dead to me without them. 💚

#crapbirdphotooftheday I swear that's a cuckoo chick, calling to being fed by an adoring (or long suffering?) meadow pipit. First time I've ever seen that! @keasdenkate.bsky.social

22 tonnes a day of microplastic is spread on farms each day via sewage sludge🚨

Inaction from previous Government, despite Environment Agency advice on the need for tighter rules, is completely unacceptable👎

Our latest research shows spot-on flea treatments on dogs are released into water when dogs swim even 28 days after treatment - in contrast to the label which suggests dogs can safely swim 48 h after treatment.

Spent some time in curlew heaven last week, finding this cutie and it's siblings in a species rich meadow was perfection 😍

I fear lapwing chicks around us will be struggling, absolutely agree that holding onto winter water is essential
Lapwing + drought = 🪦
More long-term planning needed re water supplies for farms and conservation.

UK Government has halted SFI applications, cutting off support for nature-friendly farming in England. ❌🍃

Farmers need certainty, not funding that’s switched on & off.

Pulling the rug from under them erodes trust, disrupts farming, and stalls critical progress on nature & climate.

Red Deer river for my first post on this app, because I'm dreaming of summer days at home in Alberta, and because as I took this picture, an osprey dove into the river behind me and it was wicked 💚
