Instead of shitposting this morning, I have been ratposting. This time of year we find the occasional drowned rat in a stall water bucket and leave it out for the lovely red shouldered hawks that nest in our pasture. And yes, we have squirrel boards in the water troughs. This is different.

My 39-year-old double box has been officially decommissioned and is headed to surplus tomorrow. The poor thing has survived 75 graduate students, 25 postdocs, and >100 undergraduate researchers. 🫡 Its replacement will arrive Friday, but it just won’t be the same.

Our Harris/Walz signs are also on horse fence but @jimwhitegnv.bsky.social placed them inside the perimeter of the invisible fence wire that contains our large dogs. For some reason, no one has wanted to discuss removing the signs with a 100 lb dog.

For a tree that is barely 3 ft tall, the little satsuma we planted last winter has serious ambitions. Those are 5 full size fruit beginning to ripen.

A Turkish rug from Ankara University. I had traveled 3 weeks in Turkey as a Tubitak Professor with just a single rollaboard suitcase and I threw out half my clothes in Ankara so I could get the rug in to bring it back.
