The Madison County Democratic Executive Committee
MCDEC (Mac Deck)
Huntsville, Alabama
Reading Government regulations is always tricky. Some regulations may not want to be found.

But, if you live in Huntsville, think of this: The County (your county) can keep approving subdivisions. (Without your input?) And the residents of them will drive into your town. Every morning. Or evening.

To contrast the City (Huntsville) with the County (Madison), I cannot find any Public notice requirement of proposed subdivisions besides this -- limited to the adjacent land owners.

The postcard writing parties for December 9th & 16th have been cancelled. You should already have an email but we want to make sure you know.

Are you registered to vote?

Even if you are, you might enjoy strolling around The Orion anyway. The League of Women Voters of the Tennessee Valley is holding an event there. Click on the link for more info.

It may take forever to render (depending on your computer and modem) but this is what you have to work with. I'm posting the picture so you'll know how Madison County is supposed to look for the State *House* map. The link loads 4 maps.

Who, in their right mind, would ever draw Districts like this?

Seriously. What kind of criteria could you use that would render a shape like the orange one below?

I'll post the link in the remarks so you can check it out. It's the Alabama House 2021 map. Wait until you see this web page.

How close is Downtown Huntsville to turning Blue?

39 votes.

See that dark Blue precinct to the west? Kamala Harris won that precinct by 673 votes.

One precinct at a time. Next thing you know, Madison County is Blue. (From the @nytimes.com. Red highlights are mine. Link in the remarks.)

Hey! It's Monday. Guess what happens on Thursday? This Thursday. See you there.
November 17, 2025 at 8:13 PM
It's a busy time of year. Don't let it sneak up on you. One week until our regular meeting.

Be advised: The December meeting's day will most likely change.

November?!!!? How can it be November already? (Pssst! And the time change is tonight!)

Anyway, the 3rd Thursday this November is...November 20th. (You know you can program your phone's calendar for this, right?)

Put it on your calendar -- however you do it. It will be a busy month.

Just in case you need help finding Alabama House District 21. :)

I swear, this is a screen shot of what I believe to be the current Alabama House districts. District 21 is not labeled but I believe it to be the purple area highlighted by the red arrow.

This is what politics is like in #Alabama.

Hay Day was a HUGE success. More people than I dared hoped for. More candidate than I knew we had running. It seems people are hungry for a change.

Just a random sample of pictures. More tomorrow. #MCDEC #Huntsville #Alabama #Democrats

Speaking of which...Speaker Johnson won't call the House into session. So what is Dale Strong -- our Congressman -- doing with all his spare (unscheduled) time?

Hosting town halls so we can talk to him? (I don't think so...)

Call him and ask.

Of the 2,974 frames I shot yesterday at the #NoKings protest in #Huntsville #Alabama, this is the one (there can only be one) I shared on my personal page.

I like the picture -- the elements, the framing, etc. -- but the truth of it really hit me. #Resist

(I call this the Instagram edit. All verticals.)

Four more from the #NoKings protest in #Huntsville #Alabama on October 18, 2025.

Kudos to @50501movement.bsky.social and @indivisible5al.bsky.social for all the hard work.

As much as we love BlueSky, it isn't a photo-friendly as Facebook. There are dozens more at www.facebook.com/MadisonCount..., if you care to look. #NoKings #Huntsville #Alabama

1) I love signs.
2) We spilled over at both ends of the road.

Like the rest of the country, the #NoKings rally in #Huntsville #Alabama was a HUGE success -- thanks to @indivisible5al.bsky.social.

1) I think the good Dr. Joe would be proud.
2) Inflatables rule.
3) Space dinosaurs. (NASA)
4) Alabama trooper passing by. My, how times have changed. #GoodTrouble

Hey #Huntsville! Do you have your sign ready for Saturday's No King's rally?

If not, you're in luck. There is a sign-making party tonight at Back Forty Brewery. Folks will be there to help you.

If you already have your sign done, you can go help others. Either way, it will be a good time.
