Researchers in the Department of Molecular Cell Biology and Immunology (MCBI) perform fundamental and preclinical research in the field of Cancer, Neuro and Mucosal Immunology at the
Amsterdam UMC.
On the 1st day of the @cancercenterams.bsky.social annual conference Lotte De Winde presented her recently published data on the development of lymphoma-on-a-chip model to study the role of fibroblasts in this pathology! You can find the publication here doi.org/10.1016/j.mt...

(2) They also potentiated the ability of lymphoma cells to enhance lymphatic vessel permeability, although they did not affect permeability on their own.

In addition, to survival this model hint at a role of FRCs in contributing to lymphoma cell metastasis in two different ways. (1) They promoted directional migration of lymphoma cells towards the lymphatic vessels.

The addition of primary FRCs in the model improved the viability of the lymphoma cells, which was linked to increased production of interleukin-6, a known survival factor for hematological cancer cells.

They describe the construction of a lymphatic vessel (red) surrounded by lymphoma cells (DLBCL, blue) and primary fibroblastic reticular cells (FRCs, green) in a hydrogel.
