Loved the latest episode, but I think the movie with the finger chopping scene is Harlequin with Robert Powell. Haven't seen it for years, and if I remember correctly, it was part of an Australian film season
shown late on BBC2 late 80s.

Ideally, it should be watched during the run up to Christmas, but enjoy nevertheless.
