Don’t be quick to condemn companies and entities removing DEI information. Check first whether they have standing government/military contracts or funding. Looks to me as though the government has leverage. Now if their brass had seats at the inauguration—valid assessment.

I couldn’t take any more of the news cycle or of Facebook (not a relaxing place to be these days, and I have been part of the problem) so I logged off FB for at least until the first of March, deleted it from my phone, and watched Spirited Away for the first time. Very restorative.

Had a conversation with a non political person whose buddy works for the forest service and was 10 months into his job supplying hard to reach parts of a national forest and was fired. The guy talking to me was like “I don’t really think my buddy’s $50,000 salary is gonna balance the budget.”
most people know someone who works for the federal government in some capacity

and even the assholes who think all federal employees are moochers tend to make a personal exception for their buddy Jim

everyone is going to hear stories of how cruel and capricious this is
im probably just being optimistic but it feels more and more like this strategy of rather indiscriminately and smugly firing a shitload of Americans who serve their country and don’t do political jobs will probably just start pissing off ppl who don’t pay attention to politics.
