Transportation funding in Oregon is broken and while this doesn’t fix it, it helps fill the gap until we can do the hard work of getting it right.

These partnerships are so important as we share across the country what’s working and what’s not. So many of our cities are all working on the same issues.

It’s important that we continue to work through our homeless crisis and provide steady reliable funding for our shelters. We have to work together through all levels of government to address this crisis.

We’re so dependent on each other in the metro region, it’s important for Tigard to play its part understanding the importance of supporting projects that keep our community safely moving and connected.

To Youth Councilor Hellhake: we see you, we honor you, and we are so proud to have you serving our city. Keep showing up. We’ve got your back.

He has my full support—and he should have yours, too.
To those who are watching: we are not going backward. Tigard is a place where every young person should feel safe and celebrated for being exactly who they are.

Let me be absolutely clear: there is no place for transphobia in Tigard. Not in our schools. Not in our government. Not online. Not anywhere.
Asher’s appointment reflects the diversity, brilliance, and future of this city. He has already demonstrated thoughtfulness, leadership, and courage.

We want Tigard to be the kind of place where people feel safe growing up, and proud to come back to.
Since the announcement of Asher’s appointment, we’ve seen an incredible outpouring of support. Sadly, we’ve also seen hateful comments targeting his identity.

The Youth Councilor position is somewhat unique across the United States. Here in Tigard, we believe youth deserve a voice in shaping the future of their city—because many of our decisions today will impact their lives tomorrow.

Asher jumped right in and joined us at the dais last night. He impressed us throughout the application and interview process—coming thoroughly prepared and offering thoughtful, mature insight into how we can make Tigard a more inclusive place for all.
