I have a wonderful shitpost that this margin is too narrow to contain
But I don’t think the hero’s journey requires good character. Consider a story of a corrupt nobleman who refuses the call out of the belief they shouldn’t have to work, but then goes on an adventure out of avarice and pride. A fitting end would be death, but they need neither purity nor humility.

Although you can also start in medias res with character going “I have goal. I do thing.” but the mono-myth posits this would be a better starting point/the journey must change you. I think the framework is wrong for that latter point; existence is transient and change can occur regardless.

I think the point is to establish adventure/plot as an action undertaken by the character which begs the question “how is this different from the status quo?” thus requiring the opportunity for inaction to be discussed.

imo I think the vibes were “We have achieved policy reform and now we must achieve cultural reform.” The notion that total policy reform was achieved had a broad coalition from conservatives to the liberals whom compromised.

I think the additional fact that past administrations have gotten away with similar actions, albeit under the guise of respectability politics, without consequences makes them think “why not us?” It is why they proffered this adventure being about oil instead of naked imperialism.

I don’t use chatbots but I thought having a deference to user input was common? It seemed to solve the issue of them insisting on obvious logical errors (which were bad for marketing) and allowed for refining responses as users put in the labor for their improvement.

we have gone through to a mirror universe where instead of the government not caring about twitter because it isn’t real life, it doesn’t care about real life because it isn’t twitter
