Once again, Trump has made a mockery of the pardon power by commuting the prison sentence of serial fraudster George Santos AND forgiving his restitution—meaning his victims won't be repaid, and there's no accountability to the American people. youtube.com/shorts/dve8e...

GOOD NEWS ALERT: Yesterday’s argument on tariffs suggested that SCOTUS may be poised to rein in Trump’s authoritarian presidency, finally. Conservative Neil Gorsuch notably questioned POTUS’s “gradual but continual” amassing of powers that properly belong to Congress. youtube.com/shorts/_vUxW...

@glennkirschner.bsky.social and I had a robust conversation about the pardon power. I tried to convince him that clemency isn’t always a bad thing; it’s just been so misused by our current President that it’s hard to see the good it can do. You be the judge! www.lawyeroyer.com/p/talking-pa...

This is why so many politicians, and too many journalists, feel the need to show that white people need these programs in order to show that the “right” people — the deserving — also need these programs. Yet in covering the opposition to food stamps, etc, they rarely mention how racialized it is.

Republicans understand that the best way to kill social programs is to paint their beneficiaries as Black, as support for these programs declines — even amongst white people who need them — when they think large numbers of Black people will benefit.

Let’s be clear, most EBT users are white. The reason he’s specifically lying about “weaves” and we’ve seen so many AI fakes of Black women ranting about food stamps is they need to make BW the face EBT because they know many Americans don’t care if Black people suffer, and some actually wish for it.
ROB SCHMITT: People are using SNAP benefits to get their nails done, to get their weaves and their hair. This is a really ugly program.

SEN. RON JOHNSON: That program needs to be dramatically reformed.
