New Orleans based writer and climate activist. I eat vegetables and ride a bike- never at the same time.
Even though it was for the silliest thing I’ve ever written, I just wanted to share with #writingcommunity that I got my first short story published in print. I can’t believe I found a suitably silly journal 🤪

I need a part replaced on my bike, so I rode it along the Greenway to the bike shop, then caught a streetcar to the ferry to get back home. Couldn’t help but to think, what a cool little adventure!

From a barron’s article. This totally ignores that reduced-methane cows will still either cause deforestation on a massive scale, unless their raised in CAFOs which are wildly inhumane.
There’s no way to ethically AND sustainably raise cattle.

Louisiana’s governor is so Godly he’ll…. *checks notes* ….umm…

I forgot that modern southern summers doesn’t just mean extreme heat, but also unsafe air. I’m willing to go for runs when it’s hot, but my lungs react poorly to high ozone levels.

Eat less beef! Eat the rich, and vegetables!

Got to march in New Orleans’ Pride Parade with the Jamettes this weekend. What a great time!

During my post-storm jog this afternoon, a tree just snapped and crashed down right before my eyes. I was at a totally safe distance but it was still really jarring and incredible!

Also, in the movies, people are always outrunning falling trees. No way! Snap, gasp, crash. 1.5 seconds?

Clark’s Creek! Near Woodville, MS. I tried to run off to the woods before it got too hot; but the heat index got to over 100. It was still lovely though.

Came across this cute little fella in Jean Lafitte National Historic Park this afternoon. It looks like a snake from this picture, but it had four legs. I’m pretty sure it was a Skink.

There are only two agricultural seasons:

This isn’t my actual favorite book, but it’s the book that I think best sticks the landing on the type of stuff I try to write. What’s yours? #writingcommunity

Steamboat Natchez sailing passed me on my afternoon commute home in NOLA. So cool!

I just found out I got an acknowledgement from Katherine Min’s daughter who posthumously published The Fetishist! It was such a heartwarming surprise, and in such an important and great book!

I caught this beautiful picture of the sky over the Mississippi River right before the storm broke and torrentially rained on me for my second glorious rainy run of the week.

Today’s greenwashing example. The energy used to make these trash bags may come from renewables, but the bag itself is plastic, which is a petroleum product. Also, the zero landfill facility makes a product whose destination is intended to be the landfill. What a crock!

It’s amazing how some albums just take on an outsized role in your brain. In the months heading towards my high school graduation, the guy who drove me to school in the morning obsessively played Dookie by Green Day. Now every May or so I can’t help but to give it a listen, and it never disappoints.

It’s almost as if Louisiana’s competitively stupid legislature has prevented our state from investing in utility scale battery storage technology that literally every other state in the region is bringing online 🤷🏻‍♀️

Got to see another great heron, this time just chilling at the beach! I was in Gulf Shores for a wedding.

My morning commute is so cool! 5 minute bike ride, 10 minute ferry ride, 5 minute bike ride. Im not sure how much longer I’ll live on this side of the Mississippi, but definitely enjoying it while it lasts.

Ok last one! Be warned: if you take me kayaking, I am going to turn it into a clean up mission.

And here’s a sunken picnic table (formerly solid ground?) and some scenic shots of the swamp trees.
