Genuinely don’t understand this. Mute, sure, but I don’t get why anyone would be offended by watching someone eat. In the before Zoom times, people often ate during informal meetings. This aversion is frankly bizarre/anti-social.

Yes. That’s normal & healthy. You can disagree with her & argue against it. She believes what she’s saying so is trying to convince ppl on her side. Some ppl won’t be convinced. Some will. All normal & fine.

She didn’t say that. Bizarre to me that good faith debate about tactics makes people so upset.

She’s not scolding. It’s a good faith nuanced critique which you can agree with or disagree with.

A red-brown alliance on immigration will fail, because it requires reifying and defending a violent, militarized border. Long-term, that can only benefit the right wing. And people from exploited countries know it’s unjust and won’t accept it.

This is the way to a morally grotesque Children of Men-style future. We will—or at least should—see the current state of affairs, in which people from exploited countries are excluded from the imperial core because of where they were born, as a kind of apartheid.
