What is the meaning of life, the universe, and everything?

The meaning of life is survival.
The meaning of the universe is interconnectedness.
The meaning of everything is up to interpretation.

They're asking for what reason they exist, for what purpose they strive towards reaching fulfillment.

All that being said, here is my reframing of the Big Question posed by the Magratheans as well as my answer.

To better recontextualize the question, I would instead say "What is the reason for which we are alive? For what purpose does life exist?" Because I assert that this is what is truly being asked when someone finds themselves in a search for "meaning."

Which is why it can be pretty difficult to answer the question, "What is the meaning of Life?" Because you first need to figure out what they intend by saying the word "meaning."

When someone engaging in philosophy asks the question, "But what does it all mean?" It's a linguistic problem. Etymologically, what something *means* is the bare definitive understanding of the word being referenced, but when "meaning" is used in this context it has a much more different intention.
