For you to pursue those things & turn a blind eye to injustice, means you are willing to allow fascism, racism, transphobia, etc., for your own peace of mind. Community members are vanishing, and have been. If your favorite politician can't speak on those things they need to find a new job.

Brooks asks again if it's actually specified that it covers incarcerated people. And some back and forth indicates it's not specific, just the intent of the author. Daniels says she thinks it authorizes people enough to cover duties.

Senator Brooks starts questioning, asking if this applies to incarcerated folks or staff (incarcerated folks) and is it happening currently (not a direct answer, but she says that there are currently trans and intersex inclusive policies this would override).

We're starting with a committee substitute of SB 418, an anti-trans policy regarding prisons by Sen Julie Daniels. Similar to what we've seen at the federal level in Trump executive orders.
