Unfortunately we practice the same here in British Columbia. Massive stands of old growth forests are decimated leaving scarred stumps as far as the eye can see. “We’ll replant, no worries.” Spindly trees does not a forest make. It’s heartbreaking. No one listens.

I read The Velveteen Rabbit to my Granddaughter last summer. We loved it but I could barely get through the end. Broke my heart and then healed it. So grateful to have such incredible books to share with my grandkids 🥰

I think they should be left especially if they are part of a network of trees. With what we know now about their familial relationships, their ability to care for each other, talk to each other, and to keep the fallen “alive”, I think it is vital to their well being, the earth’s and ours.
