Yesterday’s @theguardian.com has a piece on The Joys of ageing, about how us old people see colour. Or ‘color,’ as they call it. Later, quoting from a UK university research paper, they talk about ‘gray.’ My ‘joy’ doesnt include embracing American versions of English, which easily trumps arthritis.

Is there any update on Jeff Lynne’s health? His illness and Dave Edmunds’s have reminded me - not that I’d forgotten - that we need to let the people who help shape our lives know how much they mean to us, while they’re around to know.

It’s a very simple formula.. Reform make a lot of noise (without any substance behind it), MSM lap it up and amplify it for them..

Giving the impression a 5 MP (as often 4 MPs due to turmoil) with just 10 councils, LibDems have 40, and Tories 33 are a mighty force given how much coverage they get 😡

The United States has recorded its highest annual measles cases in 33 years. The milestone marks a public health reversal in defeating a highly contagious, vaccine-preventable disease as the anti-vaccine movement gains strength.
U.S. measles cases reach 33-year record high as outbreaks spread
Johns Hopkins University data reflects the public health reversal in defeating the vaccine-preventable disease since measles was officially eliminated from the U.S. in 2000.

40 years ago, selfless people gave their time at Live Aid to try to save lives in Ethiopia but now as the Israeli government massacres innocent men, women and children, we can be locked up for begging our government to stop supporting the genocide. My, how times & the BBC have changed.

If anyone knows how to pronounce his name, Heston Blumenthal does: he says “Bloomenthorl.” Wouldn’t it be a politeness for the people trailing his candid documentary about his own bipolar disorder to get it right? They say “Bloomentarl.”

@garylinker.bsky.social sad to see Mr L, an truly principled person, stitched up by his accidental repost of dodgy material. He’s a good man. Hope I’m not endorsing a fake account

Go on, then. So, Race Across The World is taking place in the repressive country of China. How much of what we see is with permission of the government? Who agreed where they could go?

People rarely deserve the government they get and the tragedy in Myanmar highlights its military rulers’ awfulness. Appealing for help from any country, someone needs to remind them of what kindness is. No-one would refuse but the country’s government’s a disgrace.

Yet the same tweet about Russian money supporting the Far Right in Britain has been shared fewer than 100 times on X and more than 1,300 on BlueSky.

That's how much of a propaganda tool X has become.

Happy International Crumpet Day, to all who celebrate! I once overheard someone getting annoyed with his friend on the train and instead of saying “you’re getting on my tits” or “you’re pissing me off,” he said “you’re burning my crumpets” (and I will not rest until this becomes a common expression)
