Bit of a lefty, woke, British, European. Like Comedy music, films, dogs and sport. Chelsea fan but don’t let that put you off. Had to abandon Labour and signed up to the Greens
Sorry fans, it’s been a long time since I’ve updated this viral review of Bowies studio albums. Obviously not as long as it took him release The Next Day. Bowie had the excuse of recovering from ill health and raising his family whereas I’m just a lazy sod.

I don’t often agree with the right wing press but this time they are right. Following the controversy at Glastonbury heads must roll at the BBC. I’d start with these three and go on from there.

Bit annoyed with Virgin Media. Broadband keeps dropping out and their first attempt to fix it failed. So they are coming out again tomorrow to try again. It’s there problem, software or hardware? I ain’t got a clue. But why, pray tell me, do they keep threatening me with a fee if I’m not at home?

I think I’m in a minority when I say that I prefer Reality to Heathen, probably because it is rockier.
Great original songs like New Killer Star and She’ll drive the Big Car to name just two. The covers are excellent too, Pablo Picasso in particular.

Why hast thou forsaken me asks all my followers who were waiting with great anticipation for what? Toy or Heathen. And where the hell is Bhudda of Suburbia? All good questions. No good answers. I fell behind and lost interest to be honest. But revitalised here we go …. Heathen.

You lavish them with love and buy them gifts and how do they repay this love?

As the 20th Century drew to a close Bowie released Hours, a gentler album than the two previous. To my mind it is a heavily front loaded album that starts off brilliantly with things like Thursdays Child, Survive and Seven but gets less interesting after What’s Really Happening.

I’m probably in a minority of people but I prefer this to 1. Outside. Bowie may got once not be ahead of the game but perhaps he jumped on the drum and bass bandwagon . Nonetheless I think it’s the best album since Scary Monsters.

OMG SANTA’S DEAD

Sorry I’ve fallen behind with my reviews, what with Christmas and alcohol and suggesting that people shouldn’t use the #FuckOffFarage Hashtag! But wowsers, this is a great return to form and certainly the best since Scary Monsters!

After the two Tin Machine albums I expected a little more rock in this one. Having shed his 80s malaise (is that correct?) Black Tie is a freshish restart. The title track and jump they say are amongst my favourites, the latter referring to the death of his brother. I’ve also liked Miracle Goodnight

Now we zoom through the 80s of another of bowies less popular offerings. But like all of his albums there are always a good few tunes that I enjoy. The title track, Day in Day out, Zeroes and even glass Spider to start with. This was the second time I saw him live, in the glass spider tour.

Thus maybe I’ve of his least like albums but to my mind if us slightly better than Let’s Dance. It contains several songs written with Iggy Pop and I cannot work out whether the giver of God Only Knows is truly awful or truly brilliant, or somewhere in the middle.

His most commercial album but maybe the first missteps from the genius. I lived the title track at the time and the covers but it doesn’t seem to have dated all that well. His earlier version of Cat People was far superior to this album version and overall the 80s production isn’t to my taste.

So the trilogy is over and now so is the RCA years. His final album for them and as part of a very poor management contract is arguably (not arguably ) one of his finest. Many Future albums will be called “ His best since Scary Monsters” but rarely described as better then Scary Monsters.

So this is the first album I bought on, or very close to release date. I didn’t take to it as much as earlier albums at first. Fantastic Voyage had never been a favourite and particularly as an opening track. However it is another great album, Boys Keep Swinging, DJ, Look back in Anger standouts.

I hope i’m not misremembering this but this was the first “latest” Bowie album I bought in 1978, along with Yes, going for the one and taking in the first Star Wars movie in Leicester Square in quintophonic sound no less! Wondrous story and the title track were/are great and Stat Wars was exiting.

Ok, yes it is heresy, sorry!

Incidentally not a lot of people know (everybody knows!) Nick Lowe responded with an EP named Bowi. Alas this didn’t include the track I Love the Sound of Breaking Glass.

He’s moved to Berlin, met Brian Eno, and is looking to get clean with Iggy. Low continues his move towards Europop/rock with a sparser sound but dark themes. The first side of the album has electronic sounds with subdued lyrics. It contains another pop classic Sound and Vision.

So apparently David was so out of his gourd when this was recorded that he barely remembered anything about it. Well as a tribute to him I had a glass of pinot too many last night so can’t remember listening to it. Remember kids, drugs don’t work! But if he was stoned, it’s an amazing achievement!

Ziggy is dead, Aladdin is no more, Halloween Jack barely existed. Bowie releases plastic soul a complete change in direction.
A new band, up and coming singers backing him, a wonderful change in direction with a wonderful opening track. Young Americans is a great soulful opener and is just the start
December 6, 2024 at 4:36 PM
So the Spider are no more. The second album where his first name is not present but a fine return to form. I don’t want to sound like some pretentious twat but my least favourite songs are the well known ones, the title track and rebel rebel.
