See! I think I should edit to say “North American” maybe. This is one area where transit agencies will tell be dragging their feet and giving all kinds of not super deeply evaluated operational objections

For $15M, mostly NHPP which is formula money. Hopefully this doesn’t need to be amended lol. Serious question are lawyers at USDOT going to inspect each of these projects if they need amending?

Penn Ave at Minnesota will also be reconstructed (pennsylvania-minnesota-safety-improvement-dcgis.hub.arcgis.com). Another reconstruction a decade+ in the making, with design this time seemingly the Alternative 2 from 2014 (ddot.dc.gov/sites/defaul...).

also can illustrate the bad cases and what contributes to them. the same 4755 trip ended up bunched with the vehicle on 4787, but trip 4787 seems to have been scheduled as a split shift, limiting one way to address bunching bc may have limited ability to hold it at Mackenzie St end
December 11, 2024 at 4:14 PM
Looking at both directions does show attempts to address bunching. No question that it's harder to read the chart though. E.g. vehicle on trip 4763 caught up with vehicle on trip 4755 yesterday morning, and either 4763 was turned around earlier or 4763 was held to address the bunching

e.g. in their report they note 30, 40, 50% contingency figures as high and indicative of bad US practice, but these are not unusual figures for US road projects! view.officeapps.live.com/op/view.aspx...

like tbh i think this is to say the least not a full picture of how planning, scoping, engineering, building of road projects works in the US. can't expect a full picture, but also means their assumption that transit is atypical of US contracting is unexamined transitcosts.com/wp-content/u...
