For a while there were periodic stories of Mexicans found refining drugs down in Brabant but haven’t heard any in a while

Tons of Spaniards here. Our neighbors are German and Spanish. Many folks from Latin America obvs but also just a lot of Spaniards. Were more sort of in Little Italy though, Spanish seems to concentrate between Wibautstraat and the Amstel south of Oosterparkstraat

I think the only reasonable option is a majority govt with both JA21 and GL-PvdA. If Yesilgoz wants her besties in, she has to take Jetten’s besties. Fair is fair

I think they would fail to form any coalitions of the willing, get sniped at and torn down by the right, and go back into elections within a year with Jetten having lost his shine, so Yesilgoz wins back seats after comfortably sitting it out in the opposition. And then another radical-right govt

Booz Allen gets 98% of its revenue from the US federal govt?! That is completely insane. It should be nationalized

Skipped it at the time, just watched it recently. It is godawful but has elements where you can see what he was trying to do. Pod racing resurrecting the go-cart Li’l Rascals serials the way X-wing attack in Star Wars resurrected WW2 squadron movies. Execution sucks, but fun idea

I was at a remove from this since I was reporting from Vietnam, but we couldn’t even get VN to move far, beyond cosmetic concessions. Imagine how much less influence we ever had on China.

I think the US generally did press China on those things, but had no actual leverage. It was just a wrong idea about how much one country can force another one to change its fundamental system of governance and society. Nothing wrong with being optimistically wrong, but imprudent to bet so much?

That is partly true. But it’s also true that a lot of clothing is of noticeably flimsier quality than would have been acceptable in the 1990s. Price deflator from 1997 is about 1.9 and I bought $40 turtlenecks at Banana Republic I can still wear. Don’t think a $75 turtleneck now will last 25 yrs.

He has a point. It is after all impossible to build new houses, and no one makes any money by doing so.

Trump is falling asleep all over the place, and diplomats don’t get offended or make a stink because it’s preferable that way
