Whoops photo didn’t attach. Here is one of my Hebrew brothers, who died crushing racist fascism and bringing democracy back to the country I live in. From Brooklyn to Margraten

As long as we’re making offensive generalizations: This is not a “feminine vice”, it’s an American (and English) vice. Northern European (Dutch, Swedish) women do not suffer from an inability to deal with conflict directly or to give negative feedback. American and English men do.

Churn: most parties get a few % of people who didn't vote last time and lose a few % who don't vote this time. Except for the SGP. Share from last election who did not vote this time: 0%. As a way of encouraging your voters to turn out, the threat of eternal damnation seems unbeatable

There is a polling station for today’s Dutch election in the underground bicycle parking lot at Amsterdam Centraal train station. You can see the voting booths in the upper right corner. This stuff does not have to be complicated

The final poll-of-polls in the Dutch election shows Geert Wilders's anti-Muslim PVV still sliding, and the progressive-liberal D66 party continuing its rise to a near-tie for 2nd. If momentum matters as much as it did in 2023, D66 is within range of first. peilingwijzer.tomlouwerse.nl

The Netherlands’ election today is one of the biggest in the world! …in terms of the number of parties taking part, anyway. 18 to 27 parties on the ballot, depending on where you vote. My summary here (not sure this link will work, trying it out): view.e.economist.com?qs=2fc80d322...

Good summary of the housing-shortage focus of today’s Dutch election in the NYT. Includes an answer to that lingering question: yes, it feels worse here than in New York City www.nytimes.com/2025/10/29/w...

Just went to this rather fascinating event in Amsterdam where a punk rock band played (Berthaju—very good!) and then Neil Turok explained the Big Bang, his thesis that dark matter is right-handed neutrinos, and that multiverse notions are superfluous. tolhuistuin.nl/evenementen/...
