Courts only have power b/c we, as a people, have collectively decided to adhere to the rule of law. That includes abiding by court orders, even those with which we vehemently disagree. You don’t get to rage-quit democracy because you lose a case. Once a court order is defied it’s game over for law.

Interesting #history fact for the day: Bluetooth tech was named for Harold Bluetooth, a 10th century Norse king who united Norway and Denmark. The BT symbol, signifying the unified kingdom and hope the new tech would unite us, is the combination of two runes for Harold’s initials H (ᚼ) and B (ᛒ).

Visited Pompeii. Have read about it since I was a kid, and I was still blown away. The profound feeling you get walking the same exact streets and stones as ancient Romans is indescribable. The level of preservation is unique. Highly encourage anyone interested in history to go.

Justice Alito has always been an outlier, a man whose adherence to the Constitution is based on personal belief rather than stare decisis or any legal tenet. Example - his solo dissenting opinion in Snyder v. Phelps (2011) hurting free speech (that the repulsive speech was subject to liability).

@bsky.app I think your sports algorithm needs a little tweaking! I haven’t liked or followed a single soccer-related post or account and my feed is inundated with European soccer posts.

The New York Jets finally broke me. I’ve been a fan for decades. Even made it through the (what I thought was the lowpoint) Gase era. Can’t and won’t watch this franchise anymore until the Johnsons sell the team. Entire franchise is broken and it starts up top. #jets

Is anyone surprised that Paul beat Tyson? Tyson is closer to collecting social security than he is to age 50.
