An important part of scientific practice! For a historical and non-digital comparison, in my research I highlight the role of engineers, technicians, instrument makers and similar categories in the complex workings of mid-20th century astronomy.

Magic: The Gathering's Spider-Man couldn't be on Magic Arena so they turned Spider-Man into Magic: The Gathering cards. Does that make sense? NO! Let's talk about this fascinating mess!

Hi @npr.org! We worked late tonight putting together this handy pocket guide!

It doesn't address road design issues, but if we're going to educate road users, we should include drivers.

It's the size of a folded business card. Print it, fold it, put it in your wallet!

Why would anyone visit the US right now? Both professional & "low skill" international workers are being punished. Tourists are getting black bagged. Your visa can get revoked if you've made fun of some guy who was mates with the president.

They're gonna host the OLYMPICS in these conditions??

MSCA received 17'058 applications, almost 65% more than last year's 10'360. My bet is that this is mostly caused by the tremendous stress that US research is under. Europe better up their budgets in 2027 to hope to get more of this talent.

I wonder if they will apply the same zealot stupidity to businessmen who want to bring their capital in the US.

It's so absurd to think that in 2019 I was excited to move to the US for a postdoc and now I would be terrorized.

Looking back at the amazing week that was #CAA2025 in Athens! Our Australasia crew repped with some great presentations, and there was an excellent program of panels filled with digital ethics, archaeogaming, network analysis, digital field recording, 3D modelling, machine learning, and more!
May 13, 2025 at 5:24 AM
I ended up not posting at all from #CAA2025, but I had a blast. Our session about maritime mobility in particular was a highlight, as were many of the conversations we had around coffees and dinners. Looking forward to connecting more and more with this community. See you all next year!

Finally in Athens for the CAA conference 2025. Not sure how much Bluesky presence there will be throughout the conference but come talk to me of you like ABM in archaeology, ecology-informed modelling and cultural evolution! (Or just if you'd like to chat - I don't bite!)
