My faculty association at the University of Toronto is currently considering a motion (introduced by anonymous members) to divest our pension fund from Israel.

The measure singles out Israel for a unique sanction. It also uses members' pensions for a political agenda on which no consensus exists.

A United States that occupied Greenland or Canada would no longer be the United States that we knew. We can't know exactly what would happen in the domestic political arena, but it's difficult to imagine democracy survive in anything like the current form. Perhaps Trump has thought this through. 1/

Watching Trump and Vance attacking Zelensky in the Oval Office was like being back in middle school and seeing another child get bullied, or perhaps being on a subway car and seeing one passenger abusing another. Watching someone else being humiliated and degraded, you inevitably feel complicit.
