If you want to solve the housing crisis, you will pass a law that hedge funds cannot buy single-family homes, and that they have to divest existing assets over the next 5 years (at least 20% per year).

🧵. Note that Divest believes 2 of the 3 officers involved in the shooting were rookies. There will be many rookies flooding into SPD from the hiring spree this year.
UPDATE: The Office of Police Accountability has opened an investigation into the three officers who fatally shot a man in SODO on Oct. 30.

While OPA has opened investigations into every 2025 shooting, this one is different. The allegations are "Conformance to Law," not force.
CW: Shooting/Death

New video of last week's shooting in SODO.

Officers told him to drop his gun. He did. They killed him.

institutional investors really need to start planning to divest from this company, if the consumer rubes want to pay him a trillion dollars to keep driving the company into the ground, let them drown

I've been so delighted to learn since starting my website that websites are alive and well, and it has been worth the effort to divest from social platforms as much as possible.

I have been working assiduously to divest our family from any big box retailers, especially the big online one, and you know what, it's MUCH more doable than I had anticipated.

We got through halloween, a 3 year old's birthday party, and re-upped school snacks for Noah's class several times now w/o

I wish we could collectively recognize that it is nearly impossible for any one person to divest fully from billionaires, and that for each individual there will be some divestment that is easier/harder/impossible. No need to shame anyone for not divesting in a specific way.

Long past time to divest!
FYI - Tesla shareholders include BCI + BC Public Sector Pension Plans, to the tune of ~$213.45M (as of March 31, 2025).
Not sure how BCI voted at this AGM, but their ongoing investment - with OUR pension $$ - in this noxious firm = complicity. Other big pension funds have already divested! 👇
We call on BCI + BC Public Sector Pension Plans to drop their ~$81.54M stake in Tesla. Far worse than Tesla’s litany of labour + safety issues, its CEO and 13% owner is a raging fascist threatening the US, Canada, and others. Pensions will be worthless if brownshirt billionaires kill democracy. 1/x

I think it should be illegal for the federal government to do business, of any kind, with a company owned by an elected or appointed official. Seems like obvious corruption and self dealing. People who want to work in government ( elected, appointed or employed ) should have to divest.

It will mean massive numbers of people will go without insurance which means ER departments in hospitals will bear the brunt of costs.
Divest from hospitals. They won’t be able to weather this.

This is an incredible essay, and an incredibly well-articulated argument about exactly what is so unnervingly dystopian about these invisibly self-cherishing “both sides” media inventions, and why we all need to divest from them for good.

Worth your time, even if you just like good writing.

We must persist in Tesla Takedown and now focus on brining down their stock. Ask your retirement find to Divest and Boycott Robotaxis. Fuck Teska, the share holders and especially musk.
Elon Musk just got* one trillion dollars for failure. Sales are down, safety risks are up, and his politics are driving customers away. This isn’t leadership - it’s the world’s most expensive participation trophy.

*He's never gonna get it, but he could still cash out billions for failing even more
