I’ve got your ideal hot weather salad, perfect for picnics, potlucks, lunch, dinner, or just a snack. Shredded rotisserie chicken, smashed cucumbers, mirin, rice wine vinegar, chili crisp (I used Tin Man Oils brand Turkish chili crisp this time), lime juice, toasted sesame, fried garlic.

Summer cooking lately—a plate of garden veggies, rotisserie chicken and cheese with pickle ranch; “succotash-ish” pasta with tomatoes, corn, beans, herbs, cheese, and some ostrich meatballs from the freezer.

A year and a half ago we lost our bestest boy Samson. We’ve done ok as a little family of three, but always knew we preferred the past configuration. Last night we became a family of four again. World, meet Sparky (on the left). He joins Štrukli (in my arms) and is already settling in!
