I've believed this for a long time now. Humans aren't mentally or physically equipped to be modern city dwellers. I'm sure as hell not. Living in cities messes with our brains and bodies.

Humans are evolved for nature, not cities, say anthropologists
A new paper by evolutionary anthropologists Colin Shaw (University of Zurich) and Daniel Longman (Loughborough University) argues that modern life has outpaced human evolution. The study suggests that...

Next up on the workbench: Maria from Metropolis. It's unusual to find a model of her in human form, not the Maschinenmensch. Resin model about 4" high from Blackheart.

The models to the left of my desk: 1908 Voisin-Farman III (first to achieve more than 100 mile flight), 1909 Avro Triplane (first all-British aeroplane)and 1908 Antoinette V (first to reach 1,000m altitude).

Renwal kits from the early 1960s, which makes them slightly older than me.

I turned sixty yesterday, so I’ve been doing a lot of reflecting on my life. Books, of course, have played a huge part in that: I have no idea how many books I’ve read so picking my top ten was challenging. In fact, I couldn’t do it: there are eleven in this list.

There was a time I would have loved this idea. Now a) I'm too old and my eyesight sucks and b) the idea of flying things without proper training or a license appals me. I've done just enough flight training to know how terrifying that is.

"Tangerine Dream have released more than 100 studio albums..." I think I know about 30 of them. Oh, and that doesn't include soundtracks, compilations or live albums, let alone any of Franke or Froese's solo albums. I think that makes them officially more prolific than Willie Nelson.

Absolutely stopped in my tracks by this goth metal take on Albinoni's Adagio by Dark Princess. Not as powerful as the version on American Prayer, but still, enough that I had to step away from my desk and get my head together before I could carry on with work.
