The stories of Americans fleeing to Russia to escape the gays and then learning that Putin sucks beyond comprehension and oh yeah now you gotta go get shot at in Pokrovsk have really been a remarkable part of 2025.

There are Democratic leaders who went to Dick Cheney's funeral who still won't talk to Zohran but Zohran just went into the belly of the damn beast and made the infant-in-chief eat out of his hand. Schumerism is dead.

Imagine being a national newspaper hesitantly (Fairness & Accuracy in Reporting called it "tepidly") covering the mayoral race in Seattle & interviewing the incumbent loser but not the winner. If you're the New York Times, you don't need to imagine it--that's exactly what you did. How embarrassing.

The number of centrists (most recently Paul Begala who I didn't realize was still alive) misunderstanding the significance of 50.1% in a 3 way race beating your 2nd place opponent by 10 points in the face of unrelenting millions of dollars of racist campaigning is . . . disturbing but unsurprising.

"And if there is any way to terrify a despot, it is by dismantling the very conditions that allowed him to accumulate power. This is not only how we stop Trump, it's how we stop the next one." ~Zohran Mamdani, 11/4/25

DSA-endorsed candidates won all over the country last night, from the far north to the deeeeeeep south, coast to coast, and in the supposedly conservative heartland states. All over the damn place.

Coastal Oregon rules because we have Surf Squatch culture, and I will not attempt to explain this.

How's your Saturday night? I just went to the store to buy cat food and file folders. I used to be dangerous.

Some of you have put a lot of emotional (& sometimes material) stock in human irredeemability. Now people (including those you think you're smarter than) are out there fighting for good & I can see how you're struggling. Let the insecurity go. It's okay to see people as good & worth your solidarity.

NBC News finds that:

Unpopular take, but Billups' arrest gives the Trailblazers an opportunity to get a more fresh, edgy head coach with the audacity to get this team into the playoffs again.

Graham Platner (has Nazi tattoo, downplayed sexual assault in the military, scrambling through multiple apologies and damage control) ain't it. His backers fucked up, Bernie fucked up and they all need to take the mulligan and learn from it. Try vetting.

Always thought Ace Frehley, musicians' kid & roadie for Jimi Hendrix, was the most talented & musically interesting member of Kiss. "New York Groove" became a minor NYC anthem & outshone the other band members' mediocre solo work. I saw Kiss & Cheap Trick when I was 10. Safe landings Spaceman.

I think two things are true:

1. young republicans were always terrible and racist

2. young republicans become openly hitler-loving groypers is in fact a new and alarming development that is worth paying attention to

I double pinky promise you that the deeper you peer into the "Gaza Deal" the more clearly you'll see it really isn't anything. It's a made-up deal and none of the supposed stakeholders take it seriously.
