If you can't afford what a child has requested on their Angel Tree request, or if you're one of those grinches who don't think that poor children deserve nice things, then pick another child whose request you don't find offensive. It's not hard & Xmas is not the time to be mean to a child.

This rotten beast got me out of bed at 3:00 a.m. to potty and then my brain took over and I couldn't go back to sleep. I gave up trying at about 5:00 a.m. and I've been churning out billable work ever since. My body and my brain are giving out...why couldn't they do that at 3 this morning?

Because I'm a pushover, I've agreed to work full-time in January. I had planned on working just a few hours each week (I'm capped at $25k before it begins to affect my SS payment amount), but my boss called last night begging me stay through January. I just cannot resist having my ego stroked.

Aaaaand....it's official. I'm retiring as a surviving spouse at the end of the month. I will probably continue working part-time (I'm only 62) but it will give me more time to spend with my Mom (who has Parkinson's), my daughter (who is intellectually challenged) & my new great-granddaughter.

My house looks like millions of Christmas decoration storage boxes were brought up from the basement and promptly exploded...primarily because they fucking did. 🤦♀️
Oh well, the Christmas trees look pretty and now I just need to find time to decorate the rest of the house. 🤷♀️

Thanksgiving prep is officially underway. Cranberry sauce? Done. Choc. chip cookies? Done. Chop/season the veggies & brown the sausage for stuffing? Also done. So much left to be done, though. I love this season & Thanksgiving has always been my favorite holiday.

Discovered last night that oldest girlchild's bio mom has not checked on her even once during this pregnancy. Due date is 11/16. I raised her & love her like my own (she's my deceased son's oldest) so she's not alone in this, but I'm not Mom & no matter how much she shrugs it off, I know it hurts.

I wish I could avoid photos of the destruction at the White House the way I was able to avoid video of the Twin Towers collapsing on 9/11. Social media wasn't quite as "in your face" then, though. Pretty sure I'm the only person alive to have never seen those videos.
