I keep seeing agents and writing competitions looking for “a story that only the author could tell.” Am I the only one who feels like that’s unhelpful? How do you know you’re the only one who can write it when being a writer is about adopting other people’s perspectives?

Ha! Didn’t realize my old English teacher Mr. Andre was so active on here! Glad to see he’s still living up to my memory as one of the best teachers I’ve ever had!
Got my first "Violating an Executive Order" and "I'll make sure you lose federal funding" parent threat today for teaching "DEI" books in our upcoming "Liberty and Justice" themed unit. Even in "Blue" Massachusetts we're dealing with this.
