Likely just chemistry and physics we haven't had much experience with, but it is a "new thing" even if it isn't aliens.

Professional Bounty Hunters don't have nearly the same legal protections as certified law enforcement, and they'll know that. This isn't going to go well for anybody, especially when entire communities are supporting each other.
The money cannot be enough to cover costs.

Maybe specifically targeting people in medical scrubs to injure and maim with gas grenades and pepper balls to the face has reduced the available pool of healthcare workers interested in working with law enforcement.

Besides, 30 rounds of 5.56 is intentionally useless, as it's primarily for unarmored soft targets without cover.
Ie, for use against civilians (or irregular militias). Folk have been trying to up scale the MBR for about 70 years for a reason.

It was heavily stressed that I would eat any (living) thing I shot, and cannibalism is bad for brains.
Not much room for sword play these days though, and I can only do the lightsaber deflection thing, like 3 out of 4 tried. 😄

I can't tell if the NG has slept or eaten since they were deployed. Wanting them tired, hungry and borderline irrational seems to be intentional.
