Proudly voted today. It always gives me a great sense of civic duty, connectivity, community, and yes, pride — that our forebears created a system by which no matter where you live in the U.S., you can play a part in picking our leaders and thus you can lead yourself. (And also get a cool sticker.)

Recently (and wrongly) fired Indiana University director of student media Jim Rodenbush gets a standing O from hundreds of student and professional journalists at MediaFest25, the annual convention of SPJ, ACP and CMA. ✊

Even if you think you know Marcus Lattimore from seeing him on the field or Instagram, you don't. Incredible football player. Career cut short by gruesome injury. Now poet with words like his runs that take your breath away. Grateful to have a job where I meet incredible people and write about them.

It’s impossible to know now whether this show of force will have a lasting impact on crime, but it’s easy to be appalled at the optics and aghast at the secrecy. This is not four dead in Ohio, but it sure feels like the slow death of open government.

South Carolina Attorney General Alan Wilson has a news conference tonight, and is expected to announce he is entering the governor's race. State Sen. Josh Kimbrell just sent out a news release announcing himself as a candidate in the governor's race. Next phase of that race starts today. #scpol
