I remember he has a violin sonata in D-flat major which is such a bizarre key for that instrument. Something a little magical about the choice

I haven't fallen in love with Woolf yet—I read Mrs. Dalloway and I wasn't in love with that either. Maybe her work just isn't for me but I love to love things and always seek a way in if I can find it...it could be that I'll reread these in years and love them, and thus avoid cancellation :)

I think it's tough for me to get over the artifice of the form and the very ceremonious way every thought is delivered. Those thoughts can be very beautiful, but sometimes there's a dense cloud of figurative language that feels if not opaque then at least occlusive

I did some kind of paper or presentation on Muczynski at some point (I have no memory of its content now). I think it was about the usefulness of his intermediate repertoire for teaching purposes though…it was for piano pedagogy
