Seriously, though... this is just a ragebait play for clicks. There's no way the writers are sitting there with no idea what to do.

Actually, there are really only two options -- resurrection or reboot. Everything else is just a variation of one of those two options.
I write kids comics, not Hollywood blockbusters, and it took me, what?, three minutes to figure out that basic fact?
I'm sure they figured it out faster than me.

There are 3 OBVIOUS AS HELL ones I can think of and I'm only an amateur screenwriter at this point and one of those has at least 2 possible variations built into it already.
And there are 2 more I can think of that are logical but just kinda suck.

By day two when everyone else wants to go out and socialize I'm in my hotel room with a book and as much water as I can drink. Often in the corner. Occasionally whimpering.
