Something that bugs me sometimes:
The whole 'lightning taking up the souls of great warriors to the training hall of the mighty bearded warrior god and patron of kings' things is extremely Valkyrie-adjacent, yet, the Stormcast have absolutely no Valkyrie coding.

I my hobby youth, Morathi here, who also among the most prominent female characters in Warhammer Fantasy Battle, was more or less as armoured as they came. Not sure how well she managed in the frozen wastes of Nagaroth.

I am going to resist the urge to go full Jill Bearup on this chestplate and instead take a moment to celebrate how we've come with female characters in Warhammer because she is at once awesome, wearing vaguely usable armour, and paired with an Ultramarine.

I have a lovely FLGS in Edinburgh I like to pop into and check out what otherwise unfindable boxset they still, inexplicably, have lying around and I have now walked in twice, loudly declaring 'I sure hope they don't have the Helsmiths of Hashut Army Set' and they never do why is God so cruel 😭

I would just like to nuance this statement somewhat by mentioning that the Kruleboyz are a really fun and original take on orcs and I have ideas about given them a cold, norther wetlands vibe, which would look very cool next to some Ghurish Helsmiths, given the relationship between the factions.

I'm not really an Or(ru)c/k kind of guy but I am, apparently, a nostalgia kind of guy, so I really enjoyed this trip down greenskinned memory lane. Especially these two from my hobby youth.

Another grand ol' trip down memory lane with some great Imperial Guard (always in my heart) art from over the years. The most important of which, of course, is this marvelous piece from the White Dwarf article that accompanied my all-time favourite Guard release: the Vostroyan Firstborn.

It does feel like a missed opportunity that as GW get better at representation and include ever more women across their ranges (yes I know Space Marines not now though ok) they aren't updating the classic ranges in that direction.

Absolutely loved revisiting these absolute classics from my early hobby days in 3rd edition: the flavour image next to the rules for the Word Bearers (my favourite legion) and the cover from the Eye of Terror campaign book.
