Went to Ballina/Killaloe like I said I would. The old bridge is busy with people out walking, and a handful of cyclists. The new bridge is busy with walkers/runners/cyclists, mothers with kids on bicycles cycling the main road etc

It’s almost like build and they will come….

But to also note, SEAI reports renewable electricity at 40.4% from RES-E for 2023. That’s a nearly 20% gap between actual renewables here in Ireland and what is reported by the CRU. And open to correction, but I believe ROI has high % of renewables vs NI now. So the All-island mix is even more GOs!!
September 23, 2025 at 9:19 AM
Wanna know what’s more frustrating, the CRU allow GOs (Guarantee of Origins) in their reporting. So All-Island Electricity in 2023 as per latest report was 61.01% renewables

We installed these bee boxes through our work #GreenTeamNetwork at #LoughGur a few years ago. Absolutely amazing to see them with life a few of years later and for most to be like this!
We were in Curraghchase yesterday, it’s been a weekend of #ShinrinYoku aka #ForestBathing

And it’s hilly in Donegal. For example, the 6-8kms on the way into Dunfanaghy used 1% of the battery!! But we also climbed some nice heights (not on the map above, but we were up Glengesh Pass, 275m above sea level at an average of 4.5% gradient. Used a bit going up, regen a lot coming down!

So what’s the point here? Well #electricvehicles tend to have a bad rap here for “not being good in rural settings”…
We covered over 120kms in a 9-seater van using 60% of the battery, or 2km to 1% of the battery. ~20kWh/100km, which for this van is as good as I *EVER* get

Bit of touring #Donegal today. Got to Dungloe and charged to 99% before heading up to Dunfanaghy, quick stop at Glenveagh National Park, then lunch in Annagry at Caisleáin Óir after some plane spotting at Donegal Airport. Then back to Dungloe, at 38.33%

A breezy welcome to Donegal trip 2025. Sun peaking through, but lots of wind and rain.
343kms from #TreatyCity to #WestDonegal and time to chill. Watching the rain come over the mountains is soul cleansing, so let it rain!!

Also I never realised I put up my own #electricvehicle for #evsky
This is my 2018 Hyundai Ioniq 28kWh. Bought it at ~125k kms, 100% SOH. Gotten new tyres & rear discs and pads so far with my mate Pat from #PGTyres. And a major service (coolant, reduction oil, brake fluid) from #JohnEarlsMotors

#EV meet-up for Cork. Small turnout as it’s was a bit of a wet day (and it’s looks like there is only Cork people in Croke Park for the All-Ireland Hurling Final).
But good chats, great to meet new and existing members of @ievasso.bsky.social as well as a free coffee from #ePower

This may be hard to see but I had a few options to pick, I was be diligent as an Engineer with access to a spreadsheet would be 😅

As to the Hyundai, it covered 271.5kms today. Got to WD with 25%, charged to 94% and got home with 23%. Return trip shows the 132kms home was an average of 13.7kWh/100km, so trip down would have been closer to ~14kWh/100km.
I was eh, not driving it easy either, so very impressed with it all! #evsky

I annoyed @reillyderek.bsky.social as well throughout the day by capturing he when he was unaware 🤣🤣

Highlights are the seats in the Alfa Romeo Junior and the Cupra Born optional wingbacks as they would be known in the VW world. Can’t be gotten in the VW ID.3 GTX, so this might sway me towards the Cupra down the line 🤔 #evsky

Also had a look around the 7 seater VW ID.Buzz, Cupra Born and Mini Cooper Electric in John Cooper Works spec #evsky

Good day out at the #Nevo Driving Experience event at SETU Waterford today. Test drove the VW ID.3 GTX and the Alfa Romeo Junior (Speciale spec)

Lastly, I’m off to Waterford for the #Nevo Driving Experience to test drive a VW ID.3 GTX and an Alfa Romeo Junior. So I will get to see the efficiency of the tyre change on this spin.
But here’s a photo to leave you of a slightly battered looking underside. SO SMOOTH!! #evsky #BEV

My personal favourite the last few years has been Goodyear. They offer close to Michelin levels of grip, for much better value, typically quieter as well.

So today we fitted 4x Goodyear EfficientGrip Performance 2 tyres. 205/55R16 91V

Picked up this 2018 Hyundai Ioniq #electric 3 weeks ago. 125k kms, 100% SOH. I paid €11,400 for it.
I drove these when they came out originally and badly wanted one then.

My first car was a Hyundai Accent. So this is a perfectly fitting ‘second’ car that harks back to my very first car! #evsky

Small fella picked this up at the shop today.
Hot Wheels Nissan Skyline 2000GT-R LBWK Liberty Walk #tooned in purple. I might have to hide this one on the shelf in my office when we get home 🤫

Centre parcs have these #Citroen #Ami running around for food deliveries to the houses. Absolutely fantastic way to have this done #evsky
Also, no cars around is the greatest thing, I hope these holidays convince more families how good 2-wheel life is, sort of wish I could live like this daily!!

Ok latest shows that this is just the North side of the city affected, so for some reason the water.ie update isn’t entirely correct to show areas like Raheen etc 🤷‍♂️

Detailed info below, but locations in screenshot as well:

Also, while it’s a serious thing and to take heed, and hopefully overall is just precautionary, I’ve taken the executive decision to drink the only bottle of Peroni 0.0 I have left to make sure I make it through the night and that I don’t try and drink from the fish tank #parched
