ETFs and passive investing need an overhaul.

"Congrats on your diversified portfolio!" = "You're now funding companies run by people you'd cross the street to avoid."

As it turns out, "broad market exposure" meant bankrolling a lot of absolute ghouls and corporate sycophants.

Shipped my first Python package to PyPI 🎉

`edinet-tools` is now live.

Makes it easy to get Japanese corporate filings and analyze them with LLMs, even if you don't understand the language.

`pip install edinet-tools`, then add your API key.

Speaking Tues 5/27 12pm at Japan Innovation Campus, Palo Alto about EDINET API Tools - my open-source project for Japanese financial data.

Seems like CFPB uniquely vulnerable among federal agencies?

Single-director agency affected by Seila Law (2020), lacks structural independence protections that shield multi-member commissions like the FTC and SEC.

Most Americans can't afford financial/legal advice; they need CFPB protection.

Today I launched an early access version of an idea I've been working on since last fall.

My very first stock purchases were Toyota and Mitsubishi Corp. yrs ago while working in Tokyo, and I am glad to see Japanese companies attracting more attention recently.

No Tesla dealership nearby? You can still make a difference!

Volunteer to phonebank tomorrow for @joshweil.bsky.social.

I did this for the 1st time Fri.

Ask each voter to bring 2-3 friends to the polls - this multiplies your impact! One conversation can inspire many votes. Your voice matters.

Last week I shared ETF-it, my Python tool to decompose ETF holdings. I got feedback that viewing the actual voting records of Vanguard’s fund managers would be helpful.

I've dug deeper and the findings are eye-opening.

I analyzed Vanguard's voting patterns for #Tesla, and here's what I uncovered:

Unilaterally shutting down USAID via Executive Order and merging it with State is openly illegal and Dems should immediately converge on D.C. and call for protests if Trump tries to do it.

My goal is to break down language barriers and provide deep, AI-assisted analysis of Japanese corporate disclosures.

This isn't for real-time trading, but rather for thorough, strategic research and understanding of the Japanese market.

ETF industry is approaching $10T USD in assets under management.

75% controlled by three behemoths.

ETFs are convenient but we sacrifice voting right as shareholders, relying on fund mgr to act in our best interest.

yea right..

Get back to oversight and voting as a shareholder in a business.
