I thought the text below was paraphrasing what he said - I mean, there's no way a Vice President would actually talk that way.

It's a direct quote.
Vice President JD Vance: "I empathize with Americans who are exhausted after 25 years of foreign entanglements in the Middle East. I understand the concern, but the difference is that back then we had dumb presidents"

It's just astounding these AI companies are like "This next software update may end up allowing idiots to accidentally create unstoppable bioweapons that could destroy humanity, but we're under a lot of profit pressure, so we're going to release it anyway." www.axios.com/2025/06/18/o...

I still can't get past the idea that people in America are now supposed to accept that this is a valid form of law enforcement and just assume it's fine when random dudes in groups with face-coverings, no ID, no warrant, & no uniform grab people off the street and force them into unmarked vehicles
Not an original point but worth saying again - there is not a single element in this picture that identifies any of these folks as law enforcement agents. No badges, no uniforms, no vests. Out of context it just looks like a bunch of random guys are kidnapping a mayoral candidate.
Breaking News: Brad Lander, the New York City comptroller who is running for mayor, was detained by ICE agents at an immigration court as he tried to escort a migrant out of the courthouse to prevent his arrest. nyti.ms/4jWkANE

Remember when everyone freaked out about China's surveillance state - "the government monitors where citizens fly and can disappear whoever they want, how awful"

Here in the US, look at what the current administration is doing:

Airlines Are Selling Your Data to ICE
An aviation industry clearinghouse is collecting data on air travelers from billions of flights — and selling it to Trump’s immigration enforcers.

I don't know what is funniest.

The fact that their Y axis goes to 120%, them not being able to sort the dates properly, or the approval rating that would make Kim Jong Un blush.

Every book published in the United States is sent to the Library of Congress. Also, if you are under 16 you cannot use the reading room or order books.
Reporter: The president fired the Librarian of Congress. Why?

Leavitt: There were quite concerning things she had done at the Library of Congress in the pursuit of DEI and putting inappropriate books in the library for children.
