Night owl with a day job. Sad optimist. Failed writer & lapsed photographer. Soccer fixated. Passionate about good films & music that is fast, noisy or sad, but ideally all three. Punk values and revolutionary ideals. Cathedral Village, Treaty 4 Territory.
I was listening in Spanish and I don’t speak very good Spanish but in a 1-0 match in the 85th minute the broadcast turned into “let’s remember some 1998 Chicago Fire players…” for a few minutes.

So it’s dreadful all around.

Canada has given up two goals in his last 639 minutes with the national team. I generally find him - unconvincing - but he’s done a job. That said I though ECU was his best performance with the national team and he was very good v VEN. If he keeps up this form, he’s hard to drop from the squad.

But if they throw the ball down the field how are they going to get to third-and-3… the end goal of the Matt LaFleur offence at all times.

Crépeau’s lousy club form hasn’t affected him with Canada. But I think people are overly critical with St. Clair. Bottom line for me is with Canada there’s not a lot between them. Either guy can do the job.

19 of 22 made in shootouts against DSC for Canada. He didn’t save any of those three. They were all missed. And Canada has lost all four shootouts DSC has been in. Now, having said that he’s my No. 1. I’m not worrying about our PK keeper, I hope we can win a game for a start.

In the 80s the CFL was more exciting because they were innovative and daring and NFL a coaches were risk-adverse dinosaurs. In the last 25-30 years that’s flipped. The CFL has more space, more players and more motion. It should be more exciting and dynamic. And it’s not.

Pretty cool he did that in a rare TSN match for Villarreal too.

The noise that I made when that hit the back of the net. Filthy.

Are you aware of autopolo?

A few come to mind… had a row of 13yo girls there to see Leo who didn’t know how Romeo & Juliet ends. Seeing the Notebook in a full theatre of people sobbing was something. And a woman in our row laughed until she fell out of her seat and hit the floor at the Boo Radley quip in Benny & Joon (?!).

This is the root cause of how the first person died in competition at the Olympics.

This is the level it took for the CFL to delay a pre-season game by an hour.

I was legitimately wondering what Laura Dern's ex had gotten up to and had always thought he'd seemed cool. I caught up, but it took a minute.

Cory Doctorow suggested that Canada tear up the IP laws they were forced to pass to keep access to US markets and sell jailbreaking kits for US software -- third party ink! tractor repair! independent car maintenance! Don't expect it, but would be cool.

You on your way home? Pity to be so close but it’s ugly out there. Remind me to tell you about the Super Bowl champion I was trying to interview at Chubby’s…
