IIRC, that “fair use” ruling was very nuanced. Their *model training only* was fair use, but pirating a subset of their collection of books for that training was illegal — what this settlement is about — and also *providing the trained model commercially* (their product) may also not be fair use.

Ha, thank you! Not loving some of the recent Eero options and was hoping those were still a good alternative

Had to do the same thing with Notes (Simplenote), for the same reason: sporadic, unreliable sync for notes shared in a family group, with no visible status or ability to force-refresh. Even force quitting and relaunching Notes wouldn’t necessarily do it, and we were missing buying grocery items.
