The Signal story is really the perfect example of how Trump's litany of abuses have completely warped media coverage and the standard he is held to. It's being covered, but on the Trump curve, it's just another scandal, as opposed to a major national security threat that should lead to resignations.

I believe this is a critical moment for Turkey. Either the people force Erdoğan to back off and preserve the last resemblance of democracy, or Turkish democracy will be dead for the foreseeable future.

Here’s my prediction: the Signal plans leak will have zero consequences for any of the people concerned. The media will flap around for a few days then drop it. There will be no accountability at all.

This entire Signal situation is obviously absurd — not just because of Signal itself, but because you're massively expanding your attack surface when you do something stupid like this.

So many still don’t seem to get it. This isn’t just Erdoğan doing his usual authoritarian stuff. This is the ultimate escalation, the endgame.
If he gets his way this time, a country of 85 million becomes a full-blown autocracy, ruled by a man who can’t be voted out any longer.
