ATProto is young, is the thing. There’s a lot of opportunity ahead of it! But also many places it could fall down and enshittify.

I’m heartened when I see folks like @mmasnick.bsky.social in the mix at BlueSky. That guy’s head is in the right place!

It’s a fascinating time for social media.

Positive view: there’s a lot more protocol that value could be built upon.

All of these things could have premium versions created that individuals then use.

Like if I pay Gmail for a fancy view of my profile page (do I have a profile page on Gmail??) the person I email who uses Yahoo Mail isn’t seeing that. So what did I pay for?

The M2 upgrade was done years back and worth it! If only to show me how to take the machine apart and fix it.

The availability of spare parts and the relative ease of fixing this machine has been a major strength of it.
