Today is Czech Independence Day. Vaclav Havel wrote the poem "It is I who must begin"during the Velvet revolution. He then went on to be the first Democratically elected president of the new Republic.

It was his left ear that got shot wasn't it? It has certainly healed up very well, almost like he never got shot at all?
He does have quite a scraggy neck though....

Sometimes it's good to take a closer look at what's down beneath your feet. Get a closer look & see what is at ground level. There's a whole world of life we can easily overlook.

It's the Autumn Equinox & bathed in the golden autumnal light there are some specialties to be seen, summer may have passed but there is still much beauty to enjoy nature.

Been reading Silent Earth, by Dave Goulson. And this graphic shows the impact of cropped seeds dressed with Neonicotinoids can have of the soil & surrounding environment. Only 5% of the insectide is taken up by the crop while 94% is leached into the soil & water. Over time this accumulates.

You can really learn the demographic of an area, by what you might find in the local charity shops. Found these in Princes Risboro. It would make quite an interesting study. I wonder what you may find in Clacton on Sea? The Hungry Caterpillar next to Mien Kampf & Tax for Dummies 🤔

Finally got my hands on a copy of Vaclav Havel's Power of the Powerless!
It's an essay & manual on how to bring about change & to bring down Tyranny, by means of solidarity & non-compliance. Could be quite useful in these precarious times. 📚

Saw this amazing stormy, moody sky as I was just finishing up from work today, there was rumbles of thunder, but also bright sunshine, before the heavens opened & the much needed rain, came thundering down.
Ain't nature Brilliant! 😎

If you listen to the #BBC, especially #radio4 you think that Nigel Farage is destined to be our next Pm & he is the official opposition to the government. Despite only having 4 MPs. This graphic from yougov is reassuring though. I think there is more of a chance of a coalition gov than a Reform one.

The modern era could have been very different if it wasn't for a single moment/decision,that creates the reality we live in. I can think of at least 4 ppl who came close to changing the world: Alexander Kerensky, Kurt Eisner, Shirley Williams & Al Gore. instead we got Lenin,Hitler,Thatcher & Bush.

This is a poem I wrote maybe 10 years ago or more, it's just relevant today as it was when I wrote it. It's called "In Our Name" & it's in my book "The Birds Were The Only Ones Singing"

I found these two coins which inspired me to write the following poem. The first Coin is a Palistian coin from 1942 the second is an Israeli coin from 1979. I struggle to get my head around the desperate situation. But what is happening now is evil, cruel & completely wrong.

I was once told that History is from His-story. In truth it is from ancient Greek, histōr ‘learned, wise man’, which evolved into historia. The His-story idea has stuck,a one sided account of events. History's always written by the survivors. but without scientific evidence, there is no authentication
