Breaking: A federal judge ruled that housing Texas prison inmates in sweltering facilities that lack air conditioning is unconstitutional, but declined to order the Texas Department of Justice to immediately install temporary or permanent air conditioning.

Representative William Timmons will not show up to respond to constituents, even while Congress is out of session. Hold your reps accountable!
Congressman Timmons has been AWOL from the Upstate, and this week Congress is in recess. Why won't he show his face? WhereIsWilliamTimmons.com.

I’ve protested on the street, at the library, and in the park - but I’ve never protested from an overpass before. Until today! Finding new ways to get out the message. #FireElon #DumpDoge #Democracy

The courage of transgender icons to stand up for LGBTQ+ rights will not be erased by this petty tyrant.

Cis-washing our national history is a betrayal of those who put their health and liberty on the line for greater equality.

It is cruel and ineffective to remove diverse stories that speak to our students from our schools. These topics are not always easy or comforting, but neither is being a teenager in a world that tells you that you don’t belong.

Before we end our first day of Black History Month, I want to raise a glass to Mary McLeod Bethune. An educator and activist who inspires me to see the potential in every student who enters my classroom.

One Q I *cannot* get a straight answer on: how do I address dual-enrollment high school students who are trans in my college classroom? WH memo says using students’ name and pronouns will be considered “supporting transitioning.” The college, county schools, and federal guidance all disagree.

One spark of hope for me: when we thought the Trump administration’s federal $ freeze was going to hurt our students, we had teachers and advocates immediately stepping up and speaking out. We can build on that.

If President Trump’s administration is successful at impounding federal funding - even for a few days - local advocacy groups who provide direct support without federal funding are going to be critical to getting families through this spiteful chaos.

Donate and support those helpers now.

As educators we ought to take special efforts to bring these overlooked and shameful histories to light. Our many of our first-year college students have a paper-thin understanding of race relations in America.
More than 100 years after its initial review that blamed Black men, the Dept. of Justice just released its report on the 1921 Tulsa race massacre

The report says the attack “was so systematic and coordinated that it transcended mere mob violence”
