Not really on here much, FYI.
Don't watch the Saints lose all by yourself this Sunday. Come out to the Broadside and enjoy some great Cajun music and good company with the game on in the background! I'll be on the drums - would love to see you there!

My serious expression belies the joy I experienced playing live music again last night after a break of several months. A lovely wedding reception in Ruston, Louisiana, with a buffet featuring the best loaded mashed potatoes you ever tasted.

What have you done lately that brought you joy?

Jack and I went to Memphis recently. We explored downtown incl the Civil Rights Museum and the big pyramid, and of course we went to Graceland. I cherish these trips and am very grateful to be his dad.

Happy Father's Day to all the men who strive to be a loving presence and a positive example!

But dear reader, it did get better. Next tune was by the magnificent NY-based vocal powerhouse Gregory Porter.

"If love is overrated, let me be the one who is naive."

Saw him at the Orpheum last year. Amazing.

And the next tune was Brazilian jazz, which has some vibes, y'all. It doesn't get better than Desafinado by Stan Getz and Joao Gilberto feat. Antonio Carlos Jobim. Love it. Thanks @wbgojazz.bsky.social

It's times like these I really value @wbgojazz.bsky.social, the best jazz station in the world. Tell your smart speaker to play it, or download the app. Often, it helps me float away from the chaos for a fleeting moment; like this tune, which incidentally makes me think of an experience I had today.

I'm loving this live Broadway presentation of Good Night and Good Luck. Very well done, though I will always have a soft spot for the movie.

Change starts with each of us.

If you, like me, believe that mass incarceration is a stain on Louisiana, please consider supporting me, my colleague Lauren, and the team at PJI as we fight every day using multipronged strategies.

Help me raise $1500 by Tuesday!
